Colleen McLain was born and raised in Minneapolis Minnesota. She was an avid reader as a youngster which lead to her desire to be a writer as she got older. She finished her first novel somewhere around the third grade, and while it didn't get much attention she continued to write and finally found her way to the Minneapolis Writers' Workshop, where she found the guidance she needed to begin submitting her work for publication. Her first Novel “Castaway Heart” was picked up by Kensington Press in New York and she formed an excellent relationship with her editor. Unfortunately her editor left Kensington, and Colleen wasn't picked up by another. But she continued to write, though some of her work has been lost in translation from computer to computer as technology steered away from five inch floppies to three inch discs to CD's. "The stories still in my mind. But I don't think I'll rewrite them. I have 15 new outlines waiting for me to get to them."
In 2004 Colleen co-founded a magazine called Minnesota Golf and Travel for which she did the layout design and writing. The magazine had a good four year run and dissolved when her partner decided to split ways. That's when she returned to novel writing. "Dream Walkin'" is an e-book on Amazon.com and her next book "Just Like in Key Largo" is only 50 pages from being finished and will be e-published as well. Additionally she started a column titled “I want to Live Like a Tourist” based on her recent move from Minnesota to Florida, and is currently shopping for a publication source. In her spare time she helps other authors format their books for e-publication, and offers editorial guidance. Three more outlines have been added to the books waiting to be written. She has on-line articles published in other information sites but is excited to be part of Hubpages.
